Qatar Airways Tempts UK-Based Qatari Students with Five Star Career Options

Doha, February 20 (QNA) - Qatar Airways, one of the country's biggest employers, continues its drive to recruit young Qatari students by sponsoring an annual career fair in London this weekend. The event, organized by the State of Qatar s Embassy in London, expects to attract over 150 pre-registered Qatari students currently studying at UK universities and colleges. Taking place at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on February 22 and 23, it aims to provide under graduates with opportunities to secure scholarships with leading Qatari organizations. Qatar Airways, one of the world s fastest growing airlines, will again have a leading delegation from its National Scholarship Programme from head office on hand in London to provide undergraduates with career opportunities in over 20 different career disciplines. Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said "Qatar Airways is committed to identifying and nurturing the best young national talent for the wide range of careers we have on offer, from technical, operational and marketing to sales, airport services and corporate communications." With so many options available, Qatar Airways provides a great career path both in Qatar and overseas across our over 120 global network of destinations. "The annual Career Fair in the UK this week, our third presence over the years, will enable us to meet some extraordinary young people and show them what we have to offer. Our continued success and growth depends on harnessing young Qatari talent as leaders of tomorrow and to maintain pride in the country's national airline - and with it the world class standards that passengers all over the world have come to expect from us." With the brand new Hamad International Airport, which Qatar Airways will manage and operate, opening in Doha this year and the national airline opening an exciting array of new routes during 2013, the aggressive expansion by the carrier is a strong magnet to attract new recruits, added Al Baker. The airline will have a stand at the London event, where members of Qatar Airways' Operational and Nationalization teams will hold onsite interviews with young Qatari men and women, encouraging them to apply for the global carrier s flagship talent-nurturing scheme. Nationalization Vice President Dr. Kholode Al-Obaidli added that there were three programmes up for grabs by the airline at this year's fair Scholarship, Internship and Graduate Career Rotation. "I hope that some of the young people we meet at this weekend's fair will take this opportunity to learn more about our unique programmes," she said, adding "whatever their area of interest, if students can demonstrate their commitment, ambition and drive to gain the skills they need in the workplace, we will do whatever we can to support them. Qatar Airways National Scholarship Programme is central to this support." Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth in just 16 years of operations, currently flying a modern fleet of 119 aircraft to 125 key business and leisure destinations worldwide. Over the next few weeks and months, Qatar Airways will launch scheduled flights to a diverse portfolio of new routes, including Chengdu, China (March 19); Chicago, USA (April 10); and Salalah, Oman (May 22).
