Public Security Chief: Two killed, six wounded in Sitra blast

Manama, July 28 (BNA): Public Security Chief, Maj-Gen Tariq Al-Hassan, has offered sincere condolences to the wise leadership, loyal Bahrainis and families of the martyrs of duty (Naweed Ahmed Nazar and Hamid Rasool Arif) who died this morning as a result of a terrorist act committed in Sitra. May God rest their souls in peace, give patience to their families and help the injured recover fast.
As part of the Interior Ministry resolve to inform the public on security developments, the Public Security Chief stated that at 6:29 am on Tuesday July 28, while a bus carrying policemen at the end of their shift at the Sitra police station was near the Granada Primary Girls' School on Road One, a group of terrorists remotely-detonated a bomb planted there. This caused the death of two policemen, while six others sustained serious and medium injuries. The wounded were taken to hospital and initial reports indicated they were in stable condition.
Various security and legal measures were taken following the incident, including a security deployment and the activation of security points to determine the movement of people in certain areas to ensure the safety of the public and the forces. A crime scene team was assigned to the location to examine the evidence and the Public Prosecution was notified. An investigation was also launched to identify and bring the offenders to justice.
Such terrorist acts will not stop policemen from carrying out their duties and taking all security and legal procedures against anyone that endangers lives of citizens and residents or attacks public and private property.
May God protect Bahrain and its people against all evils.
