Prospects for implementation of bilateral Kyrgyz-German technical projects discussed in Berlin

Bishkek, March 29, 2022 / Kabar /. As part of the visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev to the Federal Republic of Germany, a meeting was held with State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection Franziska Brantner. According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, the sides discussed the prospects for the implementation of bilateral Kyrgyz-German technical projects, as well as plans to increase business cooperation between the countries. The creation of the Kyrgyz-German Business Council chaired by the head of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov was noted in a positive way. In the context of supporting the reforms carried out by President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, aimed at improving the investment climate in Kyrgyzstan, the possibility of attracting expert assistance from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection was discussed. The Kyrgyz side expressed interest in building up cooperation within the framework of the program for training managerial personnel in the field of economics "Fit for Partnership with Germany", which has become an important tool for the development of trade and economic cooperation. Since 2007, over 300 representatives of the business community of Kyrgyzstan have been trained in Germany under this Program. In addition, the issue of organizing interaction between the departments of the Kyrgyz Republic and Germany in the field of economy, renewable energy sources and energy efficiency was discussed. The interest of the Kyrgyz side in cooperation in the implementation of the resolutions “Nature knows no borders: transboundary cooperation is a key factor in the conservation and use of biodiversity”, initiated by Kyrgyzstan and adopted by the UN General Assembly, as well as the resolution declaring 2022 the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development, was indicated. The current situation in Ukraine is considered separately. Kazakbaev reiterated that the Kyrgyz side stands for the settlement of the conflict exclusively by political and diplomatic methods, welcomes any mediation efforts of countries, and is also ready to provide its platform for these purposes. It is emphasized that Kyrgyzstan has close historical ties with Russia and Ukraine. The ways of minimizing the negative effect of sanctions on the economies of the countries of the region, including Kyrgyzstan, were discussed. As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue active joint efforts to build up Kyrgyz-German cooperation in trade, economic and investment areas.
