PROJECT ON INCREASING ENGAGEMENT OF APPLIED PSYCHOLOGISTS LAUNCHES

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ ‘Bright Future- Increasing involvement of applied psychologists in the children’s individual development’ international joint project was launched on July 27 at the Otgontenger University.
Within the framework of the World Vision International project, the Institute of Applied Psychology conducted a survey among students of 20 secondary schools of suburban districts to detect personal characteristics and psychological issues of the students. According to the survey, 46.9 percent of 4517 students aged between 12 and 18 needed psychological services.
Psychological test adaptation will be implemented jointly with scholars and researchers from USA, Australia, Russia and China under the three-year project. Moreover, in cooperation with the scholars and psychologists of the Moscow State Pedagogical University a program to improve the skills of professional psychologists and prepare practical psychologists started at the beginning of this year.
This time, practical psychologist Dr. I.A.Lopatina is conducting a lecture for young families and parents and a four-day training for professional psychologists jointly with Mongolian counterparts.
The survey and research of the Institute of Applied Psychology is being implemented in five main directions. First, methods of studying intellectual, cognitive, communication and speech development of children aged between 2-18; second, methods of studying individual’s personality, thirdly, methods of studying psychological issues of child and individual, the fourth, study of individual’s professional skills, the fifth, adaptation of athlete's performance strategy.
