Presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan talked by phone

Bishkek, July 4, 2022 . /Kabar/. Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov and Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation on Monday. The two presidents discussed topical issues of further strengthening of Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership, the press service of the Kyrgyz president said. Sadyr Zhaparov noted that the Kyrgyz side with great concern perceived the events in Uzbekistan. He stressed that thanks to timely, decisive and coordinated actions, the situation in Karakalpakstan had been normalized and further escalation had been prevented. The Kyrgyz leader expressed confidence that the results of the constitutional reforms in Uzbekistan would lay a solid foundation for stability and serve as a reliable guarantor of the implementation of the country's long-term strategies. Zhaparov and Mirziyoyev also discussed the preparation and agenda of the upcoming Consultative Meeting of Heads of States of Central Asia, which is scheduled for July 21 this year in Kyrgyzstan. All Central Asian leaders accepted the invitation to participate in this event.
