President Stresses The Necessity Of Promoting Free And Professional Media As A Key Factor In Promoting Democracy

Baghdad / NINA /- The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, stressed the need to promote free and professional media, as it is an essential factor in promoting the path of democracy. President Salih stressed, during his meeting with the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Iraqi Media Network, Jaafar Al-Wanan, and his accompanying delegation, on the necessity of promoting free and professional media as a key factor in promoting the path of democracy in the country, and the need for public opinion to be informed of accurate information away from side effects. He pointed out; according to a statement that the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) received a copy of it, to the importance of keeping the Iraqi media network away from political and partisan influences, in order to guarantee its independence. The President of the Republic listened to an explanation from the delegation regarding the functioning of the network, once again its full support for "any reform steps that would achieve the goal set for it since its establishment in providing an independent media institution for the state that reflects the aspirations of the people to communicate their suffering and their demands to the responsible authorities." / End
