President Of The Republic Receives French President Macron

Baghdad / NINA /- The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, affirmed: "Iraq aspires to play a central role in the region, and does not want to be an arena for the struggle of others." Salih said in a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, "The challenges of terrorism continue. This requires international cooperation and drying up of terrorist financing." He added, "We are looking forward to building a strategic partnership with France, and we will announce joint projects and contracts." The President of the Republic stated, "Iraq is looking forward to playing a pivotal role in the region in order to achieve its stability, and we do not want to be an arena of conflict for others." The French President affirmed: "Iraq is going through a pivotal stage, and the war on ISIS has not ended because ISIS and the many external interventions are challenges threatening Iraq." Macron said during the press conference: "The leaders of Iraq should lead a transitional phase and build an Iraqi sovereignty that protects their country and strengthens the security of the region." He added, "France will be on Iraq’s side, and we have presented a project that protects its sovereignty." / End
