President: Multiparty system may appear in Turkmenistan

Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec.16 / Trend / A multiparty system may appear in Turkmenistan soon, the Turkmen Embassy in Azerbaijan said in its press release with reference to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov's address on the 20th anniversary of the Democratic Party in Turkmenistan. "We may have a multiparty system in the near future. Therefore, the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan should constantly be in search and be in the forefront," Berdimuhammadov said. He said this philosophy should be the people's conviction. "We must not rest on our laurels, be in constant motion and creative search and move forward on the path to the heights of modern society," Berdimuhammadov said. Actively using all available methods in your arsenal, "you should facilitate the development and strengthening of Turkmen society through reforms," the appeal says. The Democratic Party of Turkmenistan has been a great political force, and continues to remain so, President Berdimuhammadov said. The Democratic Party of Turkmenistan was established shortly after declaring state independence - Dec. 16, 1991. "Sacred independence, which has become reborn fate of the people, gave impetus to the emergence of a political force capable of ensuring stability, civil accord in the state and society, instill faith in their great future to the people, in revival of their homeland, protection and inviolability of ancient traditions, formation of the new democratic and legal world-view in the Turkmen society," the appeal says. Berdimuhammadov said discharge of high duties assigned to the Democratic Party over the past 20 years in good-faith further strengthened the political party's role in society and enhance its authority. Berdimuhammadov said it is gratifying that the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan in a new historical era directed its work at solving today's challenges of the country's innovative development, diversification and modernization of leading branches of economy, active introduction of market relations, successful implementation of historic state and society development programs, systems of education, health, science and culture, sport and tourism, carrying out economic and social reforms, as well as strengthening of spiritual revival and stability. "The party and public organizations should seek new forms of doing business and establishing relations with the population, improve work methods, act more decisively and keep pace with the time.
