Pres.: The Electoral Process Will Be Subject To Exceptional Technical Measures To Prevent Fraud

Baghdad / NINA / - The President of Barham Salih confirmed that the electoral process will be subject to exceptional technical measures to prevent fraud and ensure the voice of Iraqis. A presidential statement said: "The president met today with representatives of the Iraqi components and sects from various cities and regions across the country, where they discussed the upcoming elections and their importance for the Iraqi components." Salih said during the meeting: "Iraq is facing a great entitlement, after a few days, that will be embodied in the elections, which will be a turning point in the country and chart its future, and it must be a real starting point towards reforming the current situation in a way that guarantees good governance, recognizes the rights and duties of citizens, imposes the rule of law and preserves the sovereignty of the country". He added that broad participation is necessary to prevent stalkers and those trying to manipulate Iraqis' votes, pointing out that the electoral process will be subject to exceptional technical measures to prevent fraud and ensure the voice of Iraqis. The president pointed out that the diversity that Iraq in its various components and spectra is an element of enrichment for the social, political and cultural situation, and this diversity should turn into an element of strength, and that the term minorities be transcended to the term components when describing the great Iraqi diversity. The President of the Republic stressed that the wide participation of the Iraqi components is a necessity in order to have an effective presence in the upcoming parliament to establish the rights of the components, pointing out that the electoral system guarantees a real presence for the components, although it is not what we aspire to, in addition to attempts to seize the seats allocated to the components, stressing the importance of the wide participation of Iraqis in the elections, especially among the components, to vote for whomever they deem fit and a true representative of them. He explained that the important outcome that awaits the country after the elections, besides the formation of the government, is the entitlement to review the constitution, and the Iraqi components are greatly concerned with that, and your presence in the next parliament and in the competent constitutional committees will be important. Barham Salih pointed out that the state is working to have the components represented in all its governmental bodies, noting that the religious institution in the country, specifically the supreme religious authority in Najaf, has always been victorious for the rights of the components and their defense more than any other party, pointing out that Pope Francis' visit to Iraq was an opportunity to emphasize Iraqi diversity, and the Muslims and the rest of the components rejoiced in this visit, as the Christians did. / End
