Premier puts off six-month shrimping ban

Manama, June 29 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa today issued an order putting off the implementation of the six-month ban till next year. HRH the Premier gave orders to maintain the existing four-month ban for this year, directing relevant authorities to conduct comprehensive studies next year on developing fisheries, particularly shrimps. He affirmed the Government’s keen interest on supporting Bahraini fishermen and ensuring them the means of preserving fisheries, being a crucial living source for a large social segment and cornerstone of food security.
