Premier orders fourth Manama-Muharraq causeway

Manama, Aug. 23 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister has ordered the construction of a fourth causeway that will link Muharraq with the capital, Manama.
The causeway will connect North Busaiteen and Bahrain Bay.
His Royal Highness the Prime Minister also issued another order to construct a tunnel on Al Fateh Highway at Jufafir Interchange to alleviate traffic congestion, especially of incoming traffic from north Manama towards Juffair.
His Royal Highness tasked the Ministry of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning with starting the implementation of both projects and with coordinating the necessary financial allocations.
His Royal Highness held a work meeting during which he approved the construction of a fourth causeway in Muharraq and a tunnel on Al Fateh Highway. His Royal Highness listened to a briefing from Minister Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf on the phases of construction of the two projects, and reviewed the projects blueprints.
The Prime Minister emphasised the government's keenness to implement vital projects to ease citizens commutation between districts, pointing out that the focus will be on roads development projects where there are traffic bottlenecks to maintain a level of development commensurate with the increase in the numbers of people and road users.
His Royal Highness the Prime Minister praised the role of the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning in the implementation of the Government's strategy in developing and modernising road and causeway networks to alleviate traffic congestion and to increase roads intake capacity.
The Prime Minister also emphasised the Government's support and attention to infrastructure projects for their vital role in fostering development and economic activity, providing suitable infrastructure to attract overseas investments and ensuring the best quality of livelihood for citizens.
The works minister expressed his gratitude and appreciation to HRH the Prime Minister for his constant support to development plans, which is considered the incentive and drive to expedite the implementation of projects to serve citizens, particularly those pertaining to roads and increasing their intake capacity.
