Preacher in breach of ban questioned

Manama, July 18 (BNA): The Chief Prosecutor in the Northern Governorate, Mohammed Salah, said the Public Prosecution launched an investigation into the case of a preacher who delivered a public sermon, in deliberate breach of a ban imposed on him. His sermon included expressions of incitement that are incriminated under the provisions of the law. The Public Prosecution was informed by the Northern Governorate's Police that the preacher, who had been asked by the competent authorities not to preach in mosques, had defied the ban imposed on him. He was questioned in the presence of his attorney and admitted he had delivered the speech. He was released on the surety of his place of domicile after he was charged with the offense of hate incitement against the Kingdom's constitutional regime and the illegal involvement in a public service. Investigations are continuing.
