Power supply partly resumed at Thailand's flood-hit industrial sites

BANGKOK, November 22 (TNA) - The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) has partly resumed its power supply to flood-hit industrial sites in Thailand's central Ayutthaya and Pathum Thani Provinces. PEA Governor Narongsak Kamales said on Tuesday that PEA has begun supplying its power service again to part of manufacturing plants in seven industrial sites in the two provinces, where last month's deep inundations have receded. According to the governor, PEA has resumed supplying electricity to 85 manufacturers at Factory Land Company and 70 others at the Bang Pa-In Industrial Estate in Ayutthaya and 18 manufacturing plants at the Navanakorn Industrial Promotion Zone in Pathum Thani. The PEA governor revealed that certain officials have also been assigned to coordinate with four other remaining flooded industrial sites, including the Rojana Industrial Park, the Saha Rattana Nakorn Industrial Estate and the Ban Wah or Hi-Tech Industrial Estate in Ayutthaya, as well as the Bangkadi Industrial Park in Pathum Thani, so that power supply will be provided to them again once they are ready to resume their operations in the wake of inundations. PEA has, meanwhile, resumed its normal power supply service to users outside the industrial sites, including the Bangsai Arts and Crafts Centre and the Bang Pa-In Palace in Ayutthaya; while its normal power service to the Koh Kerd Handicraft Vocational Center, also in Ayutthaya, is expected by December 5.
