Possibility of co-op between Coupang and Kyrgyz Post discussed in South Korea

Bishkek, Aug. 4, 2022. /Kabar/. Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the Republic of Korea Aida Ismailova met with Vice President of Coupang Young Mok Lee, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said. During the meeting, the sides discussed the possibility of cooperation of Coupang with Kyrgyz Post OJSC, as well as the promotion and distribution of domestic products in the South Korean market. In particular, the ambassador proposed cooperation between Coupang and Kyrgyz Post on consolidation of shipments from the marketplace through the Kyrgyz Post warehouse in Seoul, expressed Kyrgyz Post’s intention to promote Coupang in Kyrgyzstan and suggested the company to send an expert group to the Kyrgyz Republic for comprehensive market research to identify potential products and goods for subsequent export to the Republic of Korea. In turn, Young Mok Lee, expressing gratitude for the interest in cooperation with Coupang, assured that Ambassador Ismailova’s proposals will be carefully studied. In addition, representatives of the company noted the great potential of environmentally friendly products from Kyrgyzstan. As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue consultations on the above-mentioned issues. Coupang is a large South Korean e-commerce company. Founded in 2010, the company has expanded to become the largest online marketplace in South Korea. Coupang is often referred to as “Amazon of South Korea” because of its position and size in the South Korean online marketplace.
