PM To Members Of UNSC: Our Foreign Policy Is Based On Not To Engage In The Policy Of Axes

BAGHDAD / NINA / -Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi said "Iraq's foreign policy is based on not to engage in policy of axes.
He said during his meeting with the members of the UN Security Council, in its first visit to Iraq: This important visit shows the support of the Council and its interest in Iraq and the changes taking place in all areas and successfully overcome the political, economic and security challenges.
He added: Iraq witnessed external and internal wars and campaigns of oppression and annihilation and waves of terrorism and inherited us the destruction of infrastructure and social divisions and the destruction of our wealth and resources, human and material loses and large debt, yet all the Iraqis were able to approve the Constitution and holding several legislative elections led to a change and peaceful circulation of power and defeated Daesh and freed their cities.
He added: "When the supreme religious authority issued the fatwa of the Jihad to defend Iraq, millions volunteered and united, and by this unity, they defeated Daesh, and our forces in various formations united and mobilized their strength and succeeded in achieving victory," pointing out that "the deep crises, sacrifices and major challenges faced by Iraq deserve greater international support for the reconstruction of the damaged regions and cities.
Abdul Mahdi reviewed the efforts of the Iraqi government in the areas of economic reform, sustainable development, investment of natural resources, increasing agricultural production, working on extending the rule of law, achieving justice among the Iraqi people, equal opportunities and increasing women's participation in political life and administrative positions.
He stressed that: Our foreign policy is based on not engaging in the policy of axes and focusing on the many common issues that bring us together with neighboring and regional countries in a way that preserves security and stability and achieves the interests and prosperity of all the peoples of the region and avoids tensions, crises and wars. He confirmed Iraq declared stand from the current regional crisis.
During the meeting with the members of the Security Council, all members affirmed the support of the Security Council for Iraq, its sovereignty, its unity and stability. It also discussed the continued cooperation and coordination of the UN Mission in the humanitarian, displaced, and its unity and reconstruction plans, praising the Iraqi government's balanced policy and its relations with its Arab, regional and international environment.
"We are pleased with this historic visit and our message to you that we have come to express our support for Iraq and its unity and sovereignty and to extend our congratulations on the victory over Daesh, thanks to the people of Iraq and for the international community stand by you and support the partnership and efforts of the mission in Iraq, which works with the approval of the Iraqi government and the successes achieved in various fields, and we welcome the initiative of the Iraqi government to improve relations with neighboring countries and the Arab and regional and international, and described a wise policy that serves the interests of Iraq and all the countries of the region, as well as our support for the reconstruction efforts and the reform steps of the Iraqi government.
