PM lauds Thai women’s volleyball team
BANGKOK, July 6 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has praised the Thai women’s volleyball team after winning the fourth place in the 2012 World Grand Prix in China last week.
Yingluck thanked all the 28 Thai women’s volleyball players, as well as Volleyball Association of Thailand President Somporn Chaibangyang and coach Kiattipong Ratchatakriangkrai for making the country famous in the tournament during a meeting at Bangkok's Government House on Friday morning.
Yingluck told the Thai women’s volleyball team that they should not feel sorry for being unable to play in the upcoming Olympics, as they have already brought fame to their motherland, encouraging the Thai players to continue training and help make the Thai Kingdom more famous in the sports field.
Thailand’s fourth place at the World Grand Prix was the country's best performance in 10 years since the competition made its debut at the annual tournament in 2002.
Meanwhile, representatives of PTT Public Company Limited (PTT), Thailand’s largest energy firm, gave a financial support of 1.9 million baht to the Volleyball Association of Thailand to boost morale of the association and Thai athletes. (TNA)
