Ooreedo Receives Official Permit to Change Name
Doha, June 26 (QNA) - Ooreedo has on Wednesday confirmed that the required legal and regulatory approvals have been obtained and effective immediately, the company's legal name has changed to Ooredoo Q.S.C. The change was previously approved by shareholders at the company's Extraordinary General Assembly Meeting held on March 31.
At this time the company's ticker symbols remain unchanged with announcements to be made in due course.
Ooredoo Q.S.C., formerly known as Qatar Telecom (Qtel) Q.S.C., is a leading international communications company delivering mobile, fixed, broadband internet and corporate managed services tailored to the needs of consumers and businesses across markets in the Middle East, North Africa and South-East Asia. It has a presence in markets such as Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Algeria, Tunisia, Iraq, Palestine, the Maldives and Indonesia. The company reported revenues of $9.3 billion in 2012 and had a consolidated global customer base of more than 91 million people as of March 31.
