'One Second' Traffic Safety Campaign Launched

Doha, May 26 (QNA) - The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in collaboration with Maersk Oil Qatar, organized a one-of-a-kind launch for a new national brand "One Second' for road safety today, during a press conference at Grand Hyatt. The launch took place in the presence of brigadier Engineer Mohammad Al Malki, Secretary General, National Traffic Safety Committee, Colonel Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah, Director of Public Relations Department of the MoI, representatives of Maersk Oil Qatar and local and international media representatives. The launch was certainly memorable, thanks to the powerful impact it had on the audience, who witnessed a stylized reenactment of an accident in front of their eyes. The unique presentation focused on the importance of "one second" decisions when driving. The new national "One Second" brand will be the umbrella under which all subsequent campaigns for road safety will unite, and its purpose will be to serve the road safety strategy in the next phase. Brigadier Mohammad Al Malki, Secretary General, National Traffic Safety Committee said: "One second is an innovative brand, that was born as a result of collaboration between several entities and targets different categories of society. "One Second" gives out a message to the public in a new and innovative way that serves the high purpose of continuing efforts that started with several companies, and society entities to raise awareness on road safety and achieve safety for everyone. Brigadier Malki also thanked Maersk Oil Qatar for coming up with this special brand and idea that is expected to have a huge impact, asking all citizens and residents and all companies and committees and everyone to cooperate and respond to it. Sheikh Faisal Bin Fahad Al Thani, Deputy Managing Director Maersk Oil Qatar Said "Maersk oil aim is to support The National Vision 2030, put forth by his Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Emir of The state of Qatar, We support this aim by contributing to the development of Qatar's Human and natural resources. Our CSR programs contribute to the national vision by supporting different categories in Qatar's society, through our action for Health and Safety, Education and Capacity Building, and Environment, and Culture initiatives. we have long term plans and collaborate closely with several official bodies to sustain such projects and achieve our objectives in developing and serving society'. Sheikh Faisal Bin Fahad Al Thani added 'It is important for us to unite all efforts towards one goal to support the MOI and its strategies related to public safety and security. Maersk has followed the principle of "One Nation One Voice" to present a fully-fledged project in collaboration with Virginia Commonwealth University, that worked with Maersk Oil Qatar and MOI to develop the brand". To enable the successful launch of this new national road safety brand, MOI and Maersk gathered prominent representatives of government institutions, decision makes and stakeholders, to discuss the "One Second" identity, vision, objectives and future actions.(QNA)
