Ombudsman meets reformation, rehabilitation officials

Manama, Aug. 5 (BNA) : Ombudsman Nawaf Mohammed Al-Ma’awda met here today the officials of the Interior Ministry’s General Directorate of Reformation and Rehabilitation, led by Colonel Ghazi Saleh Al-Snen. They discussed areas of joint cooperation in all fields for the aim of upgrading efforts to improve the conditions of inmates and prisoners in accordance with the provisions of the Reformation and Rehabilitation Law. The meeting also touched upon the principles and criteria set out in international conventions, as well as those adopted by the Office of the Ombudsman while visiting prisons and remand centres. Ways to enhance the follow-up and cooperation mechanisms on complaints regarding the situation of some inmates in the Reformation and Rehabilitation Centre were also reviewed.
