Omani Minister Lauds HH The Emir's Remarks on Hydrocarbons

Doha, December 05 (QNA) -The Omani Minister of Oil and Gas Mohamed Bin Hamad Al Romhi lauded on Monday the vision of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa al Thani for developing the hydrocarbon industry in the region as explained by HH"s opening remarks at the 20th World Oil Petroleum Congress. Speaking on the sidelines of the gathering, the minister said the remarks were comprehensive in span and profound in meaning covering all aspects of the industry and encompassing the interests of all. Al Romhi called for setting up a market for energy in the region, noting that the consumer will be the first beneficiary. In reference to his country's doubled efforts to increase oil production, he said that the Sultanate's output touched 900000 barrels a day at present and the government plans to increase it to one million by 2012. The country's gas production hits 90 million cubic meters whereas 35 million cubic meters is exported as liquefied natural gas to Asia and Spain,he said. (QNA)
