BAGHDAD, Iraq (NINA) - Norway has confirmed its continued support for Iraq and its keenness to continue joint cooperation.
"Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari met with the non-resident ambassador of Norway Cecil Beria on the occasion of the end of her work in Baghdad, and reviewed with her the relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them," a Foreign Ministry statement said.
The Ambassador of Norway affirmed "the continued support of her country to Iraq, and its keenness on the continuation of joint cooperation, adding that we will continue to support Iraq with both humanitarian aid and training Iraqi forces."
She said: "Her experience as ambassador to her country in Iraq was rich in events, expressing her thanks and appreciation for the efforts made by the Iraqi government to liberate the cities from the grip of Daesh."
For his part, Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari said: "Norway has provided Iraq with a lot of services and has stood with us in the difficult circumstances, added that Iraq has overcome the crisis of terrorism and will enter the stage of reconstruction and construction. Jaafari said "As we look forward to your standing with us in supporting security, we look forward to your standing with us in construction."
"The victory in Iraq against the terrorist gangs is a victory of the international community and the good forces," Jaafari said, pointing out that Iraq is a rich and multi-wealth country, but it is undergoing exceptional circumstances due to low oil prices and the cost of war on Daesh."
He added that Iraq was able to obtain 16 international sites, thanking the cooperation of the countries of the world with Iraq, including Norway, and appreciated the ambassador's role in deepening relations between the two countries and achieving common interests. / End
