Northwestern University Qatar Appoints New Director
Doha, January 29 (QNA) - Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q) has appointed Greg Bergida as the new director of Student Affairs, effective January 1, the university announced Sunday in a media statement.
The new director will be responsible for co-ordinating the NU-Q student experience outside of the classroom from studying abroad to career management to clubs and organizations - with the media school's academic curriculum.
Announcing the appointment NU-Q dean and CEO Everette E. Dennis said, "Bergida has the right background and experience to continue the trajectory of our Student Affairs programme at NU-Q, especially calibrating our efforts in a media-centric school to enhance student life and student academic affairs. We are eager that our student affairs program support the academic mission and offer something truly distinctive for those who study here."
Bergida formerly served as director of the Office of Student Life at Fordham University s Graduate School of Business in New York City and, prior to that, manager of the customer marketing group Direct Brands, Inc.
His experience with student academic affairs and background in management and media "will inject new energy into our larger efforts to secure top-level placements for our students in the 21st century media industry," said Dean Dennis, who also noted that the appointment is particularly timely as NU-Q prepares to graduate its first class of journalism and communication students this spring.
