Nomination for UNESCO King Hamad Prize launched

Manama, Aug. 6 (BNA): Candidates wishing to vie for the UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Education can submit their nominations before November 10, 2015, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) announced. The theme of this year’s award will be educational creativity in using ICT in Education. The prize, which has been funded by Bahrain since 2005, rewards individuals, institutions and non-governmental organizations for projects and activities that demonstrate best practice as well as creative use of ICT to enhance learning, teaching and overall educational performance. Winners of 2015 prize will be announced in a ceremony at UNESCO headquarters early next year. Each of the two prize winners will receive a certificate and a cash prize of $ 25,000. Submissions of nominations must reach UNESCO via the governments of member states, in consultation with their National Commissions for UNESCO, or via international non-governmental organizations that maintain formal relations with the Organisation. The winners will be selected by a specialised jury from all over the world.
