NIHR receives second batch of RAP diploma students

Manama, May 13 (BNA): The National Institution of Human Rights (NIHR) received the second batch of students in the Royal Academy Police (RAP)'s Human Rights Diploma as part of field visits organised by the Royal Academy of Police for ministries, and human rights-related institutions for the purpose of informing them about the protection and boosting of human rights as well as to impart practical skills in them to contribute in this field. The participants were welcomed by NIHR's Vice Chairman Abdullah Al Dirazi who hailed the role of the Royal Academy of Police in terms of training police personnel on human rights and constant cooperation with the Institution to consolidate the concepts and international standards of human rights through daily practice and training, citing the capabilities of law enforcement officers and skills in dealing with human rights cases. On the side-lines of the visit, the Director of Training and Culture, Ali Al-Bahar, delivered a lecture on the general concepts of human rights in which he outlined the history of human rights development in addition to its sources and the nature of state duties and obligations to protect human rights. Also, the Acting Chairman of National Legislations Unit, Mohammed Al-Najjar, expounded on the role, position, formation of human rights institutions according to the Principles of Paris Also, the Chairman of Complaints and Monitoring Unit, Badee' Jubail, elaborated on the topic of human rights jurisdiction in the field of human rights protection, and how complaints are received and followed up. Finally, the Assistant Secretary-General, Yasser Shaheen, presented the certificates to the second batch of RAP human rights diploma who expressed how much they benefited from the information presented to them which widened their scope of understanding of the role of human rights organisations in protecting and boosting human rights.
