NHRC Chairman Meets ICRC President

Doha, May 21 (QNA) - Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Dr. Ali bin Smeikh Al Marri conferred at the Ritz Carlton Hotel with President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer, who participated in the special session organized by the NHRC as part of the ongoing Doha Forum under the title "The Repercussions of the Global Economic and Financial Crisis on Human Rights".     The meeting discussed ways of supporting national human rights institutions in order that they can achieve their desired objectives. The two sides stressed the need to exchange views and experiences in order to enhance and improve human rights.    Dr. Al Marri presented a detailed explanation on the roles played by NHRC locally, regionally and internationally.
