Newly elected Kyrgyz president urges his compatriots to preserve unity of people and country’s independence

President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev on Thursday after taking the oath of allegiance to the Kyrgyz people, urged his compatriots to preserve unity of people and independence of the country, KyrTAG reported. "We must save our country. We should write Kyrgyz citizen instead of nationality column," Atambayev said. "During the elections, passing through Kemin district, I saw an inscription on a fence: "We can be happy only in this country and on this land". I was shocked by these words. How many Russians left for Russia, but they are called the Kirghiz, how many ethnic Uzbeks left for Uzbekistan, but came back. How many countrymen are abroad, but only here we can be happy," President said. "The Kyrgyz people still have difficulties, but we do everything we can to, to relieve these difficulties, the government increases pensions and allowances, factories are being built, we make every effort to provide investors with all the conditions for their activity in our country," Atambayev said. The new president stressed the importance of continued reforms and fighting corruption. "We must continue the fight against organized crime and corruption. And I will make every effort to do it. If the executive, legislative and judicial system does not justify the trust of people, I would have to appeal to the people and decide to dissolve them," the president said. "Kyrgyzstan has to find its worthy niche in the international arena. I want to express my gratitude to Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan and representatives of the international community for the fact that they made tremendous assistance to our country. We will also try to help other nations," Atambayev said.
