MoUs with India, Morocco under review

Manama Dec. 22 (BNA): The memorandum of understanding signed between the Ministry of Information Affairs and India’s Press Information Bureau as well as the labour cooperation with Morocco are under review by the Minister for Information of Bahrain, Isa Abdulrahman Al Hammadi. At the post-cabinet press conference question and answer session, he said that the memorandum was being reviewed because it had many clauses that benefit the kingdom. India, he said, has gone a long way in the area of cinematography. Bahrain could benefit much from this expertise, he added. Bahrainis could be trained in this line of activity, said the minister. Another area of expertise where Bahrain could benefit from India is in the area of media broadcasting, said Al Hammadi. “We are interested in looking at the various levels of expertise that India has achieved in the media sector. It is important to know where the expertise can be tapped to benefit Bahrainis so that they qualify to be media personnel,” he said. He added that it was important to turn the media into self supporting sector and ensure the contribution of this sector to the overall economic growth of the Kingdom. The second memorandum reviewed is the one signed between Bahrain and Morocco. The minister said the document spoke of cooperation in labour, including safeguards for those employed in either country. It is important to bring these into practice. Morocco is also offering its expertise in training for Bahrainis. “We have much in common and could benefit from the cooperation with Morocco,” he said.
