More evacuation orders issued in Bangkok districts
BANGKOK, November 6 (TNA) - Bangkok governor M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra Sunday announced more evacuation orders and flood warnings in Bangkok districts as flood situations in the capital city got worsened.
The evacuation orders went to Pakklong Phasicharoen, Bang Wa and Koohasawan sub-districts in Phasi Charoen district; the whole of Nong Kaem district; Saensaeb sub-district of Minburi district; and Klong Sib, Koofangnua and Kokfad sub-districts of Nong Jok district.
According to the announcement, the flood warnings were also issued in Taladplu sub-district in Thonburi district, Lat Phrao sub-district in Lat Phrao district and Minburi sub-district of Minburi district.
On the same day, M.R. Sukhumbhand also inspected flood situations in eastern Bangkok following an installation of five new water pumps at Nong Chok pumping station.
Speaking to reporters afterward, M.R. Sukhumbhand thanked the government’s Flood Relief Operations Command (FROC) for supplying more water pumps to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA).
There are now 24 pumps at the station, 20 of which are operating at full capacity, he said.
He also vowed that BMA and the FROC will work more closely in order to get the country through the crisis.
Nonetheless, the Bangkok governor acknowledged that the situations in eastern Bangkok are worrying as floodwaters there keep rising. (TNA)
