More areas in Thai South hit by floods
SONGKHLA, November 25 (TNA) - Inundations have kept expanding in the Thai South, with some areas having been submerged by as high as nearly two-metre flood water, forcing several affected people to take shelter on roads.
In Songkhla Province, floods have hit five districts, including Saba Yoi, Khuan Niang, Chana, Rattaphum and Singha Nakhon, with affected villagers in Saba Yoi having particularly evacuated to shelters and one fatality reported along the way.
In Trang Province, flooding in three districts has not yet relieved, with some areas having been under over one-metre flooding, due to persistent downpours amid nearly overflows from the Trang River, forcing local schools to have remained closed until next week and affected villagers having moved their belongings and pets to safe grounds.
In Surat Thani Province, floodwater in Tambon Chaiya Municipality has remaiend about one meter deep; while soldiers are helping people in several flash-flood-hit villages, the third of its kind lately, including Baan Bua Toom, Khuan Nok Wa and Baan Namtok Tonruabin in Chai Ya District. However, there have been no reports of casualties so far although several houses have been damaged by mudslides, forcing some affected villagers to have evacuated for safety. (TNA)
