MOFA Assistant Undersecretary participates in ESCWA meeting

Manama, Dec. 3 (BNA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Assistant Undersecretary for Arab and Afro-Asian Affairs and Organizations, and board member of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Technology Centre, Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa Al Khalifa, took part in the fifth board meeting of the centre in Amman. The meeting on December 1-2 reviewed the centre’s activities and achievements in 2015 as well as the work plan for 2016, in addition to discussing the compatibility between the centre’s programmes with the organisation’s priorities in line with the sustainable development goals. Dr. Shaikha Rana also took part in the regional forum on the science and technology of diplomacy held under the patronage of Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan in cooperation with Jordan’s Royal Scientific Society and the American Civil Research Development Corporation. The forum aimed at exploring the views of experts and regional leaders on the contribution of the science and technology sector in the regional decision-making process to face joint challenges. Dr. Shaikha Rana is a board member of the ESCWA Technology Centre as a representative of Bahrain since May 21, 2014.
