Ministry of Culture to Join in National Sports Day Events

Doha, January 23 (QNA) - Qatar's Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage Wednesday announced it will join in the celebrations of the National Sport Day (NSD) to be observed here February 12, according to a media statement from NSD organisers. The ministry's decision is based on its belief in the importance of sports, and the constant efforts to make sports a part of the community culture as a fundamental approach for the nation development. The proposed programme will include sport events to be held at youth centres affiliated to the ministry, in addition to sport matches between different ministry departments. A special programme is also planned for women. The decision to form a NSD activities committee was taken by HE the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari. The committee is headed by Youth Centres Director Abdul Razak bin Abdullah Al Kuwari and includes Administrative and Financial Affairs Director Jaber bin Saeed Hamidi, Public Relations and Communications Head Khalifa bin Abdulrahman Al Hail, Director of Activities and Youth Events Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Hajri and Mr Mohamed Issa Al Jaber, representing the Management of Culture. The NSD, which enhances the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030, is central to the country's commitment to sport, in addition to the Schools Olympic Programme which encourages schoolchildren to practice sport as an integral part of their daily life.
