Minister meets APM Terminals' Regional President

Aug. 19 (BNA): Ways to facilitate procedures and ensure efficient flow of goods at Khalifa bin Salman Port were discussed between Transportation and Telecommunication Minister Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed and Regional President of the port operator APM Terminals, Soren Sjostrand Jakobsen, at a recent meeting in the Ministry’s Ports and Maritime Affairs.
The minister was briefed about the port operations, including how cargo is handled and steps taken to monitor and enhance efficiency. The Minister emphasized the importance of speed and efficiency to raise the service quality of port operations so as to protect the interests of traders and importers, and was briefed on measures taken to achieve this.
Jakobsen also presented the latest developments regarding IPO plans for the company, in line with His Excellency’s directives to complete this project on time.
The minister also discussed the company’s current projects, completion schedules and future development plans in the Kingdom. A detailed discussion was held on the subject of handling bulk cargo and the company’s plans in this area.
The meeting was attended by the Ministry's Undersecretary for Ports & Maritime Affairs Hassan Ali Al Majed and Assistant Undersecretary, Ports Affairs Yousif Isa Bubshait, Reik Mueller from APM Terminals and Mark Hardiman, CEO, APM Terminals Bahrain.
In conclusion of the meeting, the minister thanked Jakobsen for the company’s excellent work in operating the port wished him and his team continued success, expressing MTT’s full support to help in overcoming any obstacles faced and in facilitating measures to ensure speed and efficiency of operations at Khalifa bin Salman Port.
