Minister Lauds Qatar's Role in Support of Afghan People
Doha, January 24 (QNA) - Afghanistan's Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Amina Safi Afzali has lauded Qatar's role in support of peace efforts in her country, and commended the humanitarian efforts of Qatari charities there.
During a meeting here today with Dr. Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Ma'adheed, Chairman of the Qatari Red Crescent, the Afghan Minister said that the Qatari charities and humanitarian organizations have contributed effectively to providing support and assistance at all humanitarian levels to serve the citizens of Afghanistan."
She confirmed the readiness of the Afghan government to overcome all difficulties and obstacles that may face the work of charities, stressing her country's keenness to extend ties of cooperation with Arab countries in various fields such as education, health and humanitarian service to the Afghan people.
The minister pointed to the need of the Afghan people for many programs, activities and assistance in the areas of education, culture , rehabilitation and reintegration of families of martyrs and those with special needs.
She also touched on the current suffering experienced by many families because of the winter and snow fall on the many areas in the country.
For his part, Dr. Ma'adheed, who is also Deputy Chairman of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (ICRC) highlighted the role being played by the Qatari Red Crescent in the humanitarian field and provision of the most important needs of people in Afghanistan and other countries worldwide .
He stressed the Qatari Red Crescent keenness to support all aspects of humanitarian work, noting the expansion of Qatari Red Crescent in three decades that stretched to more than 28 countries, mostly in Asia and Africa.(QNA)
