Minister of Awqaf Reforms Shawwal and Ramadan Crescent sighting committee

Doha, July 02 (QNA) - HE the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr. Ghaith bin Mubarak Al-Kuwari issued a ministerial decision Tuesday reforming the Shawwal and Ramadan Crescent Moon Sighting Committee. The decision appointed Dr. Thagil bin Sayer Al Shammari as Chairman of the Committee and Ahmed bin Ali Hajar as Deputy Chairman of the Committee. According to the decision Mohammed Mahmoud Al- Mahmoud, Abdullah Omar Al-Bakri and Yahya Butti Al Nuaimi will be members of the Committee. The decision has identified the regulations of committee's meeting and the issuance of its decisions, as well as calling upon Muslims in the country to sight the crescent moon and to "take the testimony of the persons it trust and what was proven in neighboring countries." The committee is to issue a public statement to declare its decision regarding the sighting of the moon crescent of each of the months of Ramadan and Shawwal and to notify the competent authorities in the State of this decision.(QNA)
