Merak, Kecak Dance Succesfully Draw Public Attention In Morocco

LONDON, April 25 (Antara) - The Indonesian Embassy in Rabat, Morocco, participated in the opening of the 3rd Heritage Day Festival by featuring Merak and Kecak dances that attracted audiences, including Moroccan Housing and Urbanism Minister Nabil Benabdallah. The festival was held at the Palais des Congrès, last weekend. "In addition to performing the dances, we also featured Indonesian cuisines, such as meatball soup, fried foods, lumpia (thin rice or wheat flour wrapper filled with a mixture of meat and vegetables), martabak (a stuffed fried flatbread), mud cake, boiled corn, nuts, bananas, and sweet potatoes," the embassy's first secretary of the Public Diplomacy, Press, and Cultural Affairs, Hanung Nugraha, informed Antara London on Tuesday. The four-day festival, held by the Association Rabat Salé Mémoire, comprised the Rabat and Sale city tour, people's stage and art performances, cultural discussion, and photo exhibition. Held annually, the festival aims to preserve and introduce cultural arts and historical sites in the cities of Rabat and Sale to today's generation of Moroccans. Indonesia's participation in the festival is expected to continue in the coming years, taking into account the enthusiasm shown by the audiences and visitors to witness Indonesian cultural performances and sample the country's typical culinary delicacies. "We will continue to feature Indonesian arts and culinary delicacies at cultural events in Morocco to offer a better understanding of Indonesia to the Moroccan people and hopefully to also increase the number of Moroccan tourists visiting our country," Nugraha added.
