Mediterranean University sign cooperation agreement on space
ANTALYA (A.A) - December 7, 2011 - Turkey's Mediterranean University, the Observatory of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUG) and Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) have signed a cooperation agreement on space and space related works.
The agreement was signed in South Korea during a visit made by Mediterranean University and TUG officials between November 28 and December 2.
The agreement will facilitate the exchange of professors, students and technical staff members and develop cooperation on space technologies, new projects and new space vehicles.
As part of the agreement, KASI has donated a space telescope to the Mediterranean University.
Mediterranean University was founded on July 20, 1982. The university provides education to thirty thousand students in fifteen faculties, six schools, one conservatory, thirteen vocational schools and five institutes.
The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) is the leading agency for management, funding and conduct of research in Turkey. It was established in 1963 with a mission to advance science and technology, conduct research and support Turkish researchers. The Council is an autonomous institution and is governed by a Scientific Board whose members are selected from prominent scholars from universities, industry and research institutions.
More than 1,500 researchers work in 15 different research institutes of TUBITAK where contract research as well as targeted and nation-wide research is conducted.
