Mayor of Osh takes part in 25th Eurasian Economic Summit

Osh, June 10, 2022. / Kabar /. The 25th Eurasian Economic Summit "Cooperation and partnership between global trading communities: more towards the digital world, more towards the green world" began its work in Istanbul on June 8. Mayor of Osh city of Kyrgyzstan Almaz Mambetov takes part in the summit.
During his speech, Almaz Mambetov emphasized the importance of strengthening international cooperation and strengthening trade and economic ties, including between sister cities and international partners. In particular, the growing role of large cities was noted, in which the financial sector, services, and the digital economy play an increasingly important role.
The Osh mayor provided information on the work being done in the city of Osh to develop and expand trade, economic and investment cooperation, support for small and medium-sized businesses, climate change, and the transition to a green economy, which are one of the key conditions for the renewal of each region.
“Today, climate change has become one of the global problems of the planet, the solution of which depends on each of us. The city of Osh, in order to preserve and improve the environment, decided to gradually move towards a green economy. For the practical implementation of this issue, we decided to join the EBRD's Green Cities global program, within which it is planned to purchase public electric buses, and measures are being taken to increase green spaces and park areas in the city,” Mambetov said.
A separate question was told about the work being done in Osh for the development of the tourism industry.
“In 2021, at the first international tourism forum held in the city of Osh, international experts recognized the city of Osh as a Tourist Provider of the Great Silk Road, which allows us to revive the former greatness of our ancient city and will give a powerful impetus to the development of small and medium-sized businesses, investment projects, and in general and the entire economy of the region. For this purpose, the Osh City Hall has developed its own tourism brand and is making every effort to spread it on the international tourism market,” Mambetov emphasized.
The summit is attended by heads of state and government, representatives of the administrations of large Eurasian megacities and cities, economists, scientists and artists, businessmen, public and political figures, heads of a number of think tanks, as well as representatives of international and regional organizations.
During the summit, bilateral and panel discussions were held on a number of significant issues.
