Maritime security agreement signed

Manama, Aug 19 (BNA): Interior Minister Lt. Gen Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa today signed an agreement with the British SRT Marine Technology represented by CEO Simon Tucker to operate an automatic identification system of vessels registered with the Coast Guard Command. The agreement comes within the maritime security and safety project implemented by the Coast Guard Command to maintain security and safety of Bahrain's territorial waters and coastlines to protect them from infiltration and smuggling operations. The minister highlighted resolve to develop and modernize the Coast Guard systems, as well as the rest of security agencies, by providing them with the latest technologies to uplift capabilities to maintain maritime security as part of the security and stability of the homeland.
