Man arrested for insulting brotherly country online

Manama, Jan 4 (BNA): A suspect, who has insulted a brotherly country on social media, has been arrested, Deputy Prosecutor of the Southern Governorate, Isa Al-Manaai stated. The suspect was also charged with calling out citizens to participate in unlicensed rallies and demonstrations, which resulted in the staging of several demonstrations, and in acts of violence and rioting in some instances. Legal measures were taken in this regard and the suspect was arrested. Al-Manaai said that the arrest was made according to a report by the Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security Directorate. He said that the Public Prosecution launched its investigation and faced the suspect with the evidence that included posting insults of a brotherly country and calling out citizens to participate in unlicensed demonstrations. The suspect admitted the charges against him. He was remanded in custody for seven days pending further investigations, ahead of referring the case to a criminal court.
