Legislative partnership stressed

Manama, Jan 10 (BNA): Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, during the weekly Shura Council session held today, stressed that the Shura and Representatives councils are partners in the national legislative process. He called on the Representatives Council to refer all legislation that has been discussed. The meeting discussed a report submitted by the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee, and agreed to amend a number of provisions of Law 58/2006 on the protection of society from terrorist acts. The meeting decided to return a report submitted by the Services Committee for further consideration on the establishment of Pension and Retirement Fund and regulating pensions and bonuses for members of Shura, Representatives and municipal councils. The meeting agreed to the government's request to delay debating the Council of Representatives' proposal on protection, rehabilitation and employing the disabled, until the financial cost and other obligations are carefully considered. The meeting agreed to a proposal on replacing the term "The disabled" with "People of disabilities" , submitted by a number of Shura members.
