Labour minister receives US delegation

Manama, Oct. 22 (BNA): Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan held a meeting here today with an American delegation, headed by Secretary of State's Special Representative for International Labor Affairs (ILA) Sarah Fox, in the presence of US Ambassador to Bahrain William V. Roebuck and Foreign Affairs Officer at U.S. Department of State Amy McGann. Humaidan informed the delegation on the Kingdom of Bahrain's labour gains and achievements, especially laws, regulations and policies aimed at supporting workers' rights, improve the working environment, provide social protection and promote constructive social dialogue among the three production parties. He said that a healthy work environment was set up that ensures equal opportunities, fights against discrimination in employment and encourages constructive cooperation among the three parties of production so as to achieve sustainable development in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He said that since the launch of the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Kingdom of Bahrain has made great strides in restructuring the labour market, maintaining unemployment rates within safe limits and investing in human resource development and qualification to align the outputs of education and training with the labour market's requirements. He affirmed the keenness of Bahrain's government, led by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier on strengthening the labour gains and preserving its achievements as one of the human rights' pillars in general, and workers in particular.
