Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan discuss prospects for development of bilateral relations

Bishkek, Sept. 2, 2022 / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral relations, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan Musa Jamanbaev met on August 30 with Chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments and Tourism Ravshanbek Alimov.
During the dialogue, it was noted with satisfaction that in recent years, bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan has been raised to a qualitatively new level. The visit of President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov to Uzbekistan in 2021 created a solid foundation for large-scale cooperation between the two countries, the Foreign Ministry said.
In addition, the state and prospects for the development of Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations, the upcoming visit of the head of Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan, further strengthening of bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation, as well as interaction within the framework of multilateral parliamentary structures were discussed.
Ambassador Jamanbaev noted a great interest in continuing active contacts between the parliamentarians of the two countries at all levels of interaction and continuing the practice of exchanging official visits of the heads of the parliaments of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
The sides noted the importance of ensuring the effective activities of the next meeting of the inter-parliamentary commission on cooperation between the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the interaction of the parliamentary committees of the two countries on international relations in ensuring the practical implementation of agreements at the highest level, in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres , as well as the activation of direct interregional ties, including fruitful contacts between deputies of local councils of border regions.
It was emphasized that the parties paid special attention to promoting priority areas of mutually beneficial cooperation, including accelerating the implementation of various infrastructure projects by the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund, the joint construction of the Kambarata-1 hydroelectric power station and the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, as well as expanding industrial cooperation between the two countries.
