Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan to develop co-op in coal mining industry

Osh, July 21, 2022. /Kabar/. A joint forum with governors of Osh, Jalal-Abad and Batken Oblasts, heads of coal mining companies in the south, representatives of Kyrgyzkomur, coal mining company in Andijan, Namangan and Fergana Regions of Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of Uzbekugol company was held on Wednesday. The meeting considered problems and proposals for cooperation, establishment of work between coal producers from Kyrgyzstan and buyers of coal from Uzbekistan, improvement of bilateral cooperation. The meeting resulted in signing a memorandum on bilateral cooperation and development of coal production between Kyrgyzkomur and Uzbekugol enterprises. There are 25 coal-mining enterprises in Kyrgyzstan’s Osh Oblast. In 2021, 207,000 tons of coal were extracted and 25,000 tons were exported to Uzbekistan. In 2022 it is planned to produce 222,000 tons.
