Kyrgyzstan proposes to create direct investment fund in EAEU

Bishkek, Dec. 8, 2022. / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan proposed to create a direct investment fund in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparov told speaking at the Bishkek Investment Summit. He said that this will allow creating effective mechanisms for attracting investments by combining existing common platforms and funds. “There is a need to create a private equity fund as a unifying system of joint investment platforms and private equity funds. The Kyrgyz Republic has initiated the creation of such a fund. We are currently working on this,” Zhaparov said. He did not disclose the principles of operation of the proposed fund and the procedure for equity participation of the EAEU countries. The head of the Cabinet also said that today Kyrgyzstan is a party to bilateral agreements on mutual support, promotion and protection of investments with more than 20 countries. Similar documents have already been signed with another 32 countries and are awaiting ratification in parliament.
