Kyrgyzstan interested in increasing investment co-op with Central Asian countries in energy sector: Gov’t

The Kyrgyz Republic is interested in increasing investment cooperation with Central Asian countries in the energy sector, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Aziz Aaliev said speaking at the Investment Potential of Central Asia plenary session of the First Tashkent International Investment Forum. Aaliev noted that Kyrgyzstan traditionally supports the development of regional ties, and further strengthening and deepening of mutually beneficial cooperation with the nearest neighboring countries is a priority of the foreign policy of the country, the press service of the Kyrgyz cabinet reported. "There are all the prerequisites for turning our region into one of the most important hubs of world trade. We need to make efforts to improve the transport and logistics infrastructure of Central Asian countries, first of all, in terms of increasing the level of integration within the region, as well as access to the world transport hubs and corridors. Issue of reconstruction of railroads within Kyrgyzstan and its access to transcontinental highways is on the agenda. The largest road project is the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad, the successful implementation of which will significantly improve the transit potential of the entire region," he said. The deputy chairman of the Kyrgyz Cabinet emphasized the importance of introducing and promoting the initiative of inclusive "green" economy and the transition to low-carbon and low-emission development, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. "The Kyrgyz side is interested in further increasing cooperation with the countries of the region in the field of direct investment in the energy sector, construction of hydropower plants and development of renewable energy sources. We invite investors to participate in the implementation of large hydropower projects such as the Kambar-Ata HPP-1 and other promising areas. We are ready to create favorable conditions for investors," Aaliev said.
