Kyrgyzstan to finance educating its students abroad

Bishkek, May 11, 2022. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov signed a Decree on the launching of a new international scholarship program Hope of the People (El Umutu). The Kyrgyz leader wrote on his Facebook page. “In support of our country's aspiration for the highest international standards of education and science, I have just signed a decree opening a new international scholarship program Hope of the People,” Zhaparov wrote. Thus, the program provides scholarships for young Kyrgyzstani students who have entered graduate and doctoral programs at one of the world's top 100 universities. “We have so far decided to begin this year by distributing 50 scholarships. The amount of the scholarship depends on the chosen university, but the maximum is USD 50 thousand. Priority is given to technical and engineering fields, but you can of course also apply to economics and humanities. Ten scholarships are available for doctoral degrees. We want to give special support to our young scholar-teachers, who will be able to share their knowledge with the next generation of students. In addition to the new Presidential Scholarship program, at my direction, the government has now begun working on targeted bilateral agreements with the world's leading universities to send our students to study. I will never tire of repeating that the most important key to our success is investment in human resources," Zhaparov wrote.
