Kyrgyzstan, China discuss trade and economic cooperation

Bishkek, June 13, 2022. /Kabar/. On the margins of the 12th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev met with Director-General of the Department of International Trade and Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce of China Yu Benlin. During the meeting, the sides discussed a wide range of topical issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Amangeldiev stressed that China is a comprehensive strategic partner of Kyrgyzstan, for many years has been helping the republic to develop the economy and improve the welfare of the people. In particular, with the support and assistance of alternative North-South roads, Datka-Kemin power line, reconstruction of the road network of Bishkek, modernization of the irrigation system in the villages, etc. “In this regard, the beginning of construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad is becoming more and more realistic in perspective. The relevant agencies of the three countries have agreed on almost all aspects related to the implementation of this project," the economy minister of Kyrgyzstan added. In response, Benlin assured that the Chinese side is positively disposed to the construction of the railroad, and noted the importance of involving all three parties in this regard, and the need to initially at this stage prepare a feasibility study for this project.
