Kyrgyzstan and Switzerland are active in economic development

We are already active in economic development, Dominique Paravicini, Head of the Economic Cooperation and Development Division and Delegate of the Federal Council for Trade Agreements at the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) told reporters in Bishkek on Wednesday. Answering the question about the economic recovery and cooperation between the two countries in economic development due to the COVID-19 pandemic he said that the COVID was terrible for everyone. “We supported Kyrgyzstan through EBRD and WB with providing direct loans as COVID crises response. “Switzerland is already active in economic development domain,” Paravicini said. “We facilitate access for SMEs (small and medium enterprises ) to affordable credits. Because we do believe that only vibrant private sector can create jobs and generate investments for economic growth,” he noted. A high level delegation from Switzerland consisting of Ambassador Patricia Danzi, Director General of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and Ambassador Dominique Paravicini, Head of the Economic Cooperation and Development Division of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) arrived in Bishkek on March 7 to strengthen cooperation ties with Kyrgyzstan and familiarize with the results of the Swiss funded projects implemented in Kyrgyzstan. Besides, members of the Swiss delegation are going to learn know more about the challenges Kyrgyzstan faces today. On Thursday (March 10) the Swiss delegation will meet representatives of the Kyrgyz government to discuss development and economic cooperation issues as well as bilateral trade and investments. They will also meet representatives of the business sector, international organizations and civil society.
