Kyrgyzstan aims at global development of fisheries in country: Agriculture Ministry

Bishkek, May 19, 2022. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan is aimed at the global development of fisheries in the country, the Ministry of Agriculture of the republic said. The ministry jointly with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in the Kyrgyz Republic held a round table discussion on the International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture 2022 (IYAFA-2022). This round table, as well as the IYAFA - 2022 itself, is designed to open opportunities for expanding dialogue between the private sector, farmers, international organizations and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic. "We are grateful and thankful to our international partners for their support and assistance in the development of our country's fisheries sector. The Kyrgyz Republic has unique natural and climatic conditions and rich water resources, which has served the rapid development of aquaculture in recent years. Small peasant farms, fish farmers build ponds, pools and breed fish, thus contributing to food security, preservation of natural ichthyofauna of our water bodies, growth of fish export, creation of new jobs, development of value chain and creation of clusters,” Minister of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan Askarbek Dzhanybekov said.
