Kyrgyz president receives WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge

Bishkek, March 25, 2021. / Kabar / . Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Zhaparov received on Thursday Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Europe Hans Kluge, who has arrived in the country for an official visit.
The Kyrgyz president’s press service reported that during the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the activities of the WHO and the continuation of further fruitful cooperation in the field of health, aimed at improving the health of the country's population.
The head of state expressed gratitude to WHO for its assistance in combating the pandemic, and noted its significant role in developing an inter-sectoral interagency plan for preparedness and response to the coronavirus infection in Kyrgyzstan.
Sadyr Zhaparov expressed hope for further WHO assistance in improving planning and financing mechanisms for health services based on the needs of the population, taking into account international experience.
At the same time, he stressed the Kyrgyz side is ready to work together to prevent non-communicable diseases, strengthen human resources and scientific capacity, and develop an effective human resource policy in the health sector.
WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge noted Kyrgyzstan has seen a number of positive changes in the health sector since his last visit to the country.
He emphasized that good conditions have been created in Kyrgyzstan for reforming and developing the healthcare system and noted the particular importance of the measures reflected in the Decree "On urgent measures for developing the healthcare sector and improving the quality of life and public health in the Kyrgyz Republic”.
He added that digitalization is very important for the development of medicine, and the WHO is ready to cooperate in this direction with Kyrgyzstan.
Hans Kluge expressed readiness to continue fruitful cooperation, and noted with satisfaction the beginning of vaccination in the country.
